Techniques You Will Learn
Meta-Analysis One-on-One Online Traineeship: SIT AT HOME AND PUBLISH
- How to design a protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis,
- How to perform a literature search, assess the quality of included studies, perform meta-analysis (fixed and random model, network meta-analysis, tests for publication bias),
- Lead time bias
- Appraisal of quality of evidence by means of GRADE criteria,
- How to write a meta-analysis paper and submit the final manuscript.
This is an exclusive online hands-on fellowship in which you will receive training in the techniques described and work on projects of your choice and co-author papers.
- The first part of the traineeship: 5 online classes on basics (via Skype)
- The second part of the traineeship: development of a scientific project aimed at publishing a paper in an impacted journal (direct contact with the host via Skype or email).
Modules
The faculty commits to helping you publish at least one papers in your area of interest. Academic physicians/physicians in community practice/medical students/biostatisticians/ health professionals, in general, can all apply. Please refer your students or fellows. You can sit at home and publish meta-analysis papers by doing a literature search online.

Each skype conference will aim to revise and update the work done and lead the fellow to successive steps of the protocol.

This type of training sessions could provide an opportunity of networking with expertise abroad and even could open a life changing path of career.
The advert gives the impression that a paper would be written for publication within the duration whereas that was not the case. The details should be presented more clearly. Good about the program: Flexible timing, clear and simple presentation
Prof. Facciorusso explained all the concepts very clearly with a lot of patience and he guided me step by step using several examples and databases till the entire data analysis was performed. At the same time, he provided me with access to statistical softwares, manuals and research papers required to carry out the data analysis.
I really wanted to learn R and network metanalysis but did not have time for a good dig in. One of the new softwares is based off of R though. Maybe the time should be increased to ?8 lectures. I got a lot of good experience and was exposed to 2 new softwares. The host mentor is a very patient teacher.

Overall the course is helpful. It is one to one course which makes learning interesting. I understand that this is a basic training course, but I expect better understanding of the meta-analysis. I got training for using RavMan but the basic theoretical aspect is missing for a beginner like me.
