"All transplant programmes are available at Semmelweis University. Up till 14th July, a total of 5,040 kidney transplants, 1,100 liver transplants, 600 heart transplants and 71 pancreas transplants were performed at the university. 63 percent of all organ transplants in Hungary have been performed at Semmelweis University"

Laparotomy, laparoscopy:cholecystectomy, hernia repair, liver, pancreas, spleen, GI tract surgery, emergency cases
Endocrine surgery
Extended excision of skin tumors, and lymph node metastases, reconstruction with musculocutaneous flaps
Arteriovenous fistula formation for hemodialysis
Nephrectomy, ureter reconstruction, psoas hitch, Boari flap
Radiological interventions: tumor ablation, catheter embolization, TIPS procedure

Curriculum

We are part of the 250-year-old Semmelweis University, and we keep up with the development of modern surgical approaches.

As we perform roughly 200 kidney and 80 liver transplantations annually, we are one of the busiest centers of the Eurotransplant community.

Our department is also a transplantation training center accredited by the Europen Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) Transplant Surgery Division.

In our 8-12 week training program we offer the opportunity to participate in routine surgical procedures and in special operations, which are useful for beginners and professionals alike.

We nominate a senior leader who will guide the participants and they can keep in touch with each other during the whole period. Questions can be discussed in the meantime.

Great experience and exposure during my traineeship. Language remains a barrier and could suggest a more assigned approach where there is allocation of a schedule for trainees with specific objectives to be met during the time they are in training. Kindly facilitate the certificate for the training. Thank you.
