We have 2 main lines of activity:

Clinical area

Neonatology unit including normal newborns care and NICU area

Research Area

Prenatal exposure to alcohol and other drugs of abuse
Neonatology (prematurity, nutrition, IUGR, etc.)

Techniques You Will Learn

Understanding clinical methods in neonatology and relevant research techniques in basic and clinical research

Curriculum

Customizable short duration stays (1-12 weeks)

Clinical Areas

The main clinical areas of our group are: Neonatology unit including normal newborns care and NICU area

Program (8:00am to 5:00pm):

1. Every day:

Early morning meeting (on call change meeting)
Scientific session
NICU ward round and/or neonatology ward round
Delivery room attendance on call
Late morning meeting

2. Scientific sessions

Every day: short sessions: with residents, scientific, case reports, protocols, news,, invited speakers, labs, etc
Tuesday and Wednesday: long sessions: scientific session of the unit
Monday: research session
Friday: management session

Research area:

The main research areas are:

Prenatal exposure to alcohol and other drugs of abuse

Neonatology (prematurity, nutrition, IUGR, etc.)

Program (8:00am to 5:00pm):

Clinical research:

Presentation and discussion of research projects
Discussion of the observer’s projects
Participation in field work
Research meetings at the Unit

Basic research:

Presentation and discussion of research projects
Discussion of the trainee’s projects
Participation in lab work: different techniques (molecular biology, animal models, cell culture, PCR, arrays, Elisa, immunoanalysis, microscopy, etc.)
Research meetings at the Unit
