University Hospital del Mar is located in a privileged and beautiful area close to the sea, to the zoo and to the amazing old town of Barcelona. The Department of Surgery is in charge of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate (Residents) physicians as well as fellows in some areas.

Techniques You Will Learn

If you are interested in improving your surgical skills, we offer you a nice opportunity to join for a while the General Surgery Department.

Curriculum

A three-week rotation schedule is shown below encompassing practice teaching, stitching seminars, laparoscopy training and case-based or problem-based discussions that are ideal for students and young to-be-surgeons.

Week 1

Monday: Stitching Practices +Emergency Department rounds

Tuesday: Stitching Practices +Emergency Department rounds

Wednesday: Laparoscopy training +Emergency Department rounds

Thursday: Case reports in emergency surgery.

Friday: Emergency Department rounds

Saturday: On-call option + Local Tourism

Sunday: Local Tourism

Week 2

Monday: Case reports in emergency surgery.

Tuesday: Emergency department

Wednesday: Abdominal wall anatomy Seminar

Thursday: Abdominal wall surgery Seminar

Friday: Complex abdominal wall surgery

Saturday: Local Tourism

Week 3

Monday: Neck’s anatomy Seminar+Emergency Department rounds

Tuesday: Endocrine surgery Seminar

Thursday: Global evaluation- Emergency department
