University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli
This is a Trialect Partnered Global Medical Education Program
According to other professor of Medical, Surgical, Neurological, Metabolic, and Aging Sciences Department, and of Cardiovascular Department of University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli, I have chosen a training program focused on the research about diabetes, and metabolic stress in cardiovascular coronary diseases (acute ST elevation, and non ST elevation myocardial infarction, and plaque instability during oxidative stress, and hyperglycemic stress conditions), and in cardiac arrhythmias (atrial fibrillation, ventricular arrhythmias, and response to cardiac resynchronization therapy). In fact, I am involved in these research areas, addressed by research experiments in cellular ex-vivo lines, and in vitro, and by the monitoring of enrolled patients in clinical study protocols, as you may see in the enclosed references. Therefore, I have chosen to divide the fellows training in 4 weeks research cellular, and molecular experience, and clinical research, and other two weeks to spend for database building processes (5 week), database lecture, and interpretation (6 week), in central research room at Department of Medical Research. I will illustrate step by step, week by week all the training program.
All these data will be discussed on the Fryday morning meeting, under my supervision at third floor, in the Research room of the Medical, Surgical, Neurological, Metabolic, and Aging Sciences Department, of University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelly, at Miraglia 2 place, Naples.
WEEK 1
The first week will be focused on the visiting, and data collection of humans involved in research protocol at Medical, Surgical, Neurological, Metabolic, and Aging Sciences Department, of University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelly (second floor of VI Medicine, Miraglia 2 place, Naples), and of Cardiovascular Department of University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelly (second floor of Cardiovascular Diseases Center, Monaldi Hospital, Leonardo Bianchi street, Naples). The fellows will visit the structure, than assisting to interventional procedures as indicated by human research protocol, and collecting data by clinical registry, and human blood samples collection. The human blood will be treated and then conserved in -30 Celsius degree in the Research room at third floor of VI Medicine, Miraglia 2 place, Naples. All these data will be discussed on the Thursday morning meeting, under my supervision at third floor, in the Research room of the Medical, Surgical, Neurological, Metabolic, and Aging Sciences Department, of University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelly, at Miraglia 2 place, Naples.
WEEK 2
The second week will be focused on the extracted human blood serum analysis, centrifugation, and examination. By these samples we will conduct the experiments as ex vivo, by cellular lines culture, and in vitro molecular tests. These experiments, conducted under my supervision, will be first focused on ex-vivo human cellular line culture. Secondary, we will perform experiments to test molecular pathways involved in cardiovascular diseases as discussed before (coronary artery diseases, and arrhythmias), at baseline, and during hyperglycemia, and oxidative stress conditions. These experiments will confirm the involvement of molecular pathways in investigated humans cardiovascular diseases. These experiments will be conducted in the Research room at Medical, Surgical, Neurological, Metabolic, and Aging Sciences Department, of University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelly (third floor of the VI Medicine, Miraglia 2 place, Naples). The fellows will visit the structure, than assisting to experiments as indicated by human research protocol, and collecting data.
WEEK 3
The third week will be focused on the visiting, data collection, and monitoring of data collection of humans involved in research protocol at Medical, Surgical, Neurological, Metabolic, and Aging Sciences Department, of University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelly (second floor of VI Medicine, Miraglia 2 place, Naples), and of Cardiovascular Department of University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelly (second floor of Cardiovascular Diseases Center, Monaldi Hospital, Leonardo Bianchi street, Naples). The fellows will visit the structure, than assisting to interventional procedures as indicated by human research protocol, collecting data, and monitoring to the collected data by clinical registry, and human blood samples collection.
WEEK 4
The fourth week will be focused on the experiments as ex vivo, by cellular lines culture, and in vitro molecular tests. These experiments, conducted under my supervision, will be conducted on ex-vivo human cultured cells. Secondary, we will perform experiments to test molecular pathways involved in cardiovascular diseases at epigenetic levels, at baseline, and during hyperglycemia, and oxidative stress conditions. Therefore, we will assay humans microRNAs expression, and we will use mimic-microRNAs, and/or antago-microRNAs to test the expression of these cellular, and molecular pathways during hyperglycemia, and oxidative stress conditions. These experiments will be conducted to confirm the involvement of molecular pathways in investigated humans cardiovascular diseases, as addressed in the second week.
WEEK 5
The fifth week will be focused on the database building by the collected data during the human, and research protocol (humans clinical data, and experiments data). In this week fellows we will put data in the central computer involved for human, cellular, and molecular research, at the Research room at Medical, Surgical, Neurological, Metabolic, and Aging Sciences Department, of University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelly (third floor of the VI Medicine, Miraglia 2 place, Naples). In this week fellow will be trained to build a database by using of excel Microsoft office program, and by using of a statistical program (SPSS software package for Windows 17.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago Illinois). All this process will be supervised by prof Raffaele Marfella, and by physicians well experienced in statistical field.
WEEK 6
The sixth and last week will be focused on the database analysis by the interpretation of the collected data during the human, and research protocol (humans clinical data, and experiments data). In this week fellows we will analyze data collected in the central computer involved for human, cellular, and molecular research, at the Research room at Medical, Surgical, Neurological, Metabolic, and Aging Sciences Department, of University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelly (third floor of the VI Medicine, Miraglia 2 place, Naples). In this week fellow will be taught to interpret the collected database by using of excel Microsoft office program, and by using of a statistical program (SPSS software package for Windows 17.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago Illinois). Fellows will be instructed to use statistical specific tests for the analysis of the association between continuous and not continuous variables, and on the analysis of the association of risk factors to predict clinical events, and study primary and secondary outcomes. All this process will be supervised by prof Raffaele Marfella, and by physicians well experienced in statistical field.
