The goal of the NIDCD Research Dissertation Fellowship for Au.D. Audiologists (F32) program is to support comprehensive and rigorous biomedical research training leading to a research doctorate (i.e., Ph.D.) in the biomedical, behavioral, or clinical sciences.

This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) does not allow candidates to propose to lead an independent clinical trial, but does allow candidates to propose research experience in a clinical trial led by a sponsor or co-sponsor.

Eligibility Requirements

By the time of award, the individual must be a citizen or a non-citizen national of the United States or have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence (i.e., possess a currently valid Permanent Resident Card USCIS Form I-551, or other legal verification of such status).

The candidate must be currently enrolled in a Ph.D. or equivalent research degree program (e.g., EngD, DNSc, DrPH, DSW, PharmD, ScD) in the biomedical, behavioral, or clinical sciences at a domestic or foreign institution. Before the award can be activated, the individual must have received an Au.D. doctoral degree from an accredited domestic or foreign institution.

The candidate must be at the dissertation research stage of training at the time of award and must show commitment to a career as an independent research scientist. Before a Kirschstein-NRSA NIDCD Research Dissertation Fellowship for Au.D. Audiologists (F32) award can be activated, the individual must have received an Au.D. doctoral degree from an accredited domestic or foreign institution.

Before a Kirschstein-NRSA postdoctoral fellowship award can be activated, the individual must have received a PhD, MD, DO, DC, DDS, DVM, OD, DPM, ScD, EngD, DrPH, DNSc, ND (Doctor of Naturopathy), PharmD, DSW, PsyD, or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited domestic or foreign institution. Certification by an authorized official of the degree-granting institution that all degree requirements have been met is also acceptable. A Kirschstein-NRSA fellowship may not be used to support the clinical years of residency training. However, these awards are appropriate for the research fellowship years of a residency program. Research clinicians must devote full-time to their proposed research training and confine clinical duties to those activities that are part of the research training program.
